Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.

Type of Travel: Short-haul, Local, Regional

Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trip reports, Accident or incident reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Loading and unloading of goods, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Pay and receive payments for goods, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness

Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service

Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence
