Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A), Driver’s Licence (Class 3 or D), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Extended Trailer Combination Permit or Endorsement, Commercial Driver Registration Program (CDRP) Card, WHMIS Certificate.

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer, Extended length tractor-trailer combination, Flatbed, Dump

Type of Travel: Short-haul, Long-haul, Local, Regional

Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone

Weight Handling: Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Specific Skills: Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance

Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence
