Credentials required: The applicant should have Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification, Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.

Major Work Area: Installation, Maintenance, Service, Repair, Residential

Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems: Heat pump, Humidification and de-humidification systems, Ventilation

Control Systems: Computerized monitoring, Electronic and solid state, On-board diagnostics, Programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Specific Skills: Measure and lay out reference points for installation, Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components, Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment, Commission systems and test for leaks using testing devices, Perform routine maintenance and servicing, Install, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, Handle, recover and store refrigerants, Install, calibrate and repair control systems, Test and repair electronic components

Additional Skills: Prepare tenders and quotations, Customer service oriented

Security and Safety: Bondable, Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driver’s validity license check

Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots
