Education: The applicant should have completed college or technical training.

Experience: at least three years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Electrician Trade Certification.

Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Industrial, Residential, Civil (road and bridge construction, etc.)

Area of Specialization: Emergency power systems, Lighting systems, Heating/cooling and heat tracing systems

Type of Equipment: Motors and controls, High voltage and energized equipment, Solid state devices, Electronic devices, Conventional electrical devices

Specific Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Install underground wiring and cables, Splice, join and connect wires, Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits, Troubleshoot and isolate faults, Install surface mount and/or overhead cables, Install power generation, stand-by power generation and power conditioning systems, Ground and bond electrical equipment, systems and structures including swimming pools and hot tubs, Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures, Conduct preventive maintenance programs

Additional Skills: Estimate labour and material costs, Keep maintenance reports and documentation, Supervise other workers

Security and Safety: Bondable, Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Safety equipment/gear, Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding
