Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working days, evenings, and weekends. Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be $10.25 per hour for a 40 hour week.

Education: The applicant should have completed high school, completed college or technical training.

Experience: at least five years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have First Aid Certificate, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.

Children’s Ages: Toddler to pre-school (1 - 3 years), School age (6 - 12 years)

Experience with Special Needs Children: Person with an intellectual disability

Work Setting: Employer’s home

Specific Skills: Supervise and care for children, Bathe, dress and feed infants and children, Prepare infants and children for rest periods, Help children with homework, Organize, activities such as games and outings for children, Prepare craft materials and assist children to use them, Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development, Read to children, Prepare and serve nutritious meals, Wash, iron and press clothing and household linens, Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties, Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents, Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home, Tend to emotional well-being of children, Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents, Take children to and from school and to appointments, Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation

Work Location Information: Work in employer’s/client’s home, Staff accommodation provided, Room and board provided

Essential Skills: Reading text, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory

Other Information: Ability to handle four active children and enforce positive discipline and redirection as necessary. Experience working with children with hyperactivity/attention deficit necessary.
