Terms: This is a permanent, full time job Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be $33,017.00 per year for a 43 hour week.

Education: The applicant should have completed college or technical training, completed university.

Experience: is an asset.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Child and Youth Care Worker (CCW/CYW) Diploma, Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma, Human Services Diploma, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate.

Work Setting: Group home, Children’s services facility

Target Groups or Clients: Adolescents, Families, Culturally diverse groups, Young offenders, Persons with mental health disabilities, Persons with learning disabilities

Type of Community or Social Service: Child welfare, Personal and social adjustment and health (substance abuse, gambling, behaviour disorders)

Specific Skills: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, Implement life skills workshops, Provide suicide and crisis intervention, Resolve conflict situations, Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, Implement substance abuse treatment programs, Implement behaviour management programs, Conduct individual and group counselling sessions, Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients

Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence, Public transportation is not available
