Credentials required: The applicant should have Provincial certificate of registration, Membership in a provincial association of social workers, Membership with the Canadian Association of Social Workers.

Work Setting: Community service organization, Educational institution, Health care institution, Residential treatment centre, Social and family service agency

Area of Social Work Specialization: Child welfare, Community development, Education and training, Family mediation

Type of Clients: Adolescents, Child, Personal or social adjustment difficulty, Psychiatric

Specific Skills: Interview clients to assess their situation and determine the types of services required and eligibility, Provide counsel and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems, Plan programs of assistance for clients, Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team working with a client group, Lobby for solutions to problems affecting client groups

Additional Skills: Use computer applications

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence
