Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working days.

Salary: will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant.

Education: The applicant should have completed high school.

Experience: the best part of a year.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 3 or D), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate.

Type of Travel: Local

Documentation Knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer), Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling: Not required

Specific Skills: Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Drive lighter, special purpose trucks, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness

Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques

Security and Safety: Bondable, Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver’s licence, Public transportation is not available

Essential Skills: Document use, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning

Other Information: Experience preferred but willing to train. Abstract required. This position is a swing driver position.
