Terms: This is a permanent, full time job, which requires working weekends. Shift work is involved.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification.

Type of Experience: Trucks

Mechanical Repairer Specific Skills: Inspect and test mechanical units, Diagnose faults and malfunctions, Repair and replace mechanical units, Test and adjust units to specifications

Truck Mechanic Specific Skills: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems, Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems, Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications, Perform scheduled maintenance service

Additional Skills: Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor, Complete reports to record problems and work performed

Security and Safety: Criminal record check

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver’s licence

Essential Skills: Reading text, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing

Other Information: Experience with Heavy Equipment. Fourth year Mechanic apprentice will also be considered.
