Terms: This is a seasonal, part time job, which requires working days and evenings.

Salary: will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant.

Education: The applicant should have completed high school.

Experience: at least three years’ experience.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, WHMIS Certificate.

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Dump

Type of Travel: Local

Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Accident or incident reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone

Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Specific Skills: Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness

Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service

Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver’s licence, Public transportation is not available

Essential Skills: Reading text, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Finding information

Other Information: Safety vest required. Use of 2-way radio. Asphalt work experience an asset. Some manual labour work may be involved. Some heavy equipment experience an asset.
